About the workshop
This fi-compass AMIF thematic workshop was the second in a series of exchanges organised by the European Commission Directorate-General for Migration and Home Affairs (DG HOME) and the European Investment Bank (EIB) linked to the ongoing work on the fi-compass AMIF study. The study aims to explore the potential for financial instruments to support the integration of third-country nationals (migrants) in the EU.
The workshop brought together managing authorities of the AMIF and the ESF+, members of the European Integration Network (EIN) and other relevant stakeholders to discuss the types of projects that could support migrant integration, the financing demands for such projects, the scope of financial support for the 2021-2027 programming period in their Member States, challenges and lessons learned, and whether financial instruments, potentially combined with grants, could be a suitable solution to meet the financing needs.
Additionally, the workshop presented the fi-compass support available to AMIF managing authorities and other relevant stakeholders interested in becoming involved in potential future financial instruments supporting migrant integration.

This fi-compass factsheet introduces the potential use of financial instruments in the area of early stage and long-term integration of migrants in the EU. It describes how the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF) financing may be deployed for the first time through financial instruments such as loans, guarantees and equity, to support relevant objectives of this EU policy area.
The publication addresses mainly managing authorities in charge of AMIF and other relevant funds (e.g. ESF+, ERDF) but also financial intermediaries, municipalities and all other stakeholders involved in programming or implementation of projects for migrants and refugees (third-country nationals) in the Multiannual Financial Framework 2021-2027.
