About the workshop

Building on the findings of the EIB-DG AGRI study “Insurance and Risk Management Tools for Agriculture in the EU”, the European Investment Bank (EIB) is currently assessing options for the design and implementation of a potential EU Agriculture Catastrophe Risk Financing Facility. The study explores the potential role of EU-level insurance solutions and other risk-sharing mechanisms to strengthen the resilience of agricultural risk management systems across the European Union to address the increasing climate-related risks.

During the workshop, the European Investment Bank (EIB) and the Directorate-General for Agriculture and Rural Development (DG AGRI) will present preliminary findings and proposed design options, including potential EU-level risk-transfer instruments and a Technical Assistance Platform. Participants will be invited to share their views on the feasibility, relevance, and practical implications of the proposed components, helping to inform the next phase of the study and the possible development of future EU-level solutions.
