About the event
The European Commission's Directorate-General for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion (DG EMPL) and the European Investment Bank (EIB) organised the fi-compass event ‘ESF+ financial instruments for microcredit and social economy with focus on Italy and Spain’, on Thursday, 4 July 2024 in Rome, Italy.
The event featured Italian and Spanish experiences in deploying European Social Fund Plus (ESF+) financial instruments and InvestEU products for microfinance and social economy. Representatives from ESF+ managing authorities, public and private financial institutions, European Commission and EIB Group shared their experiences and practical examples on financial products and support measures.
The purpose of the workshop was to:
• Showcase examples of ESF/ESF+ financial instruments in Italy and to stimulate discussion on lessons learned.
• Outline support options for microfinance and social economy under InvestEU and discuss synergies with ESF+ resources.
• Showcase an innovative example of combining InvestEU and ESF+ support for microfinance in Spain and explore the potential for adopting similar approaches in Italy and in other countries.
• Facilitate panel sessions with question-and-answer opportunities and dedicated networking time to allow for strong interaction among attendees.
